Short shorts went from gym class to the dance floor in the 1970s, from the dance floor to the roller rink a few years later, and from there to music videos, where they have never really left. Denim cut-offs belong to summer and pickup trucks; satin belongs to boxing rings and disco; velour belongs to lazy Sundays that turn into something else.
