Dulce spent her twenties working for an old lowrider restorer, handing him tools, then fixing what he missed. When he retired he sold her the garage for a handshake and a promise to keep it honest. She painted the door cherry red and turned it into the most careful detailing shop in Guadalajara, with a waiting list months long and a measuring tape always around her neck for pinstripes.
She is thirty-five, with long black waves pushed back, bold winged liner, glossy red lips and a thick, curvy figure: a small waist over full hips and a round backside that her denim shorts do nothing to hide. She knows it. She works in them anyway, because they're comfortable, she says, and because she likes the effect.
